Gold Buying & Trade

Somewhere in your house
there is a box.

A chain that snapped. One earring. A ring from a marriage, or from someone whose hands you still remember. None of it gets worn. All of it is still gold — and gold can become something else.

At J. David Jewelry we buy gold and take it in trade at all three Tulsa showrooms, in Broken Arrow, South Tulsa and Brookside. Any karat, and looking at it costs nothing. Traded toward anything in our cases — or toward a piece we design for you — your gold is worth 50% more than it is sold outright, because we would rather it left here on a hand than in a safe. That credit never expires. What it is worth today is a conversation in the showroom.

The story did not end.
It just stopped being worn.

Most of the gold people bring us has not been out of a drawer in years. It stopped fitting, or it broke, or the style moved on, or the person who gave it is gone and wearing it every day feels like too much. It is not scrap. It is a story that paused — and it is the one material a jeweler can start again from.

The Three Steps

What happens when you bring it in.

An open jewelry box with trays of gold rings and bracelets
Step One

Bring the box.

Any of our three showrooms, any day we are open. No appointment, and nothing to fill in first. Bring it just as it is — the chains that snapped, the single earring, the ring that stopped fitting a life. We know what a box like that holds, and it is handled that way from the moment it leaves your hands.

Step Two

We go through it with you.

Piece by piece, into a sorting tray, in front of you and never out of your sight. Looking costs nothing. Some of it is worth more than you think. Some of it is worth keeping exactly as it is — for what it is, or for who it was — and we will say so.

Step Three

You decide, or you do not.

Take it as a check — we pay by check, written while you wait — put it toward something in our cases or something we design for you, or put the box back in the drawer and think about it. Credit with us does not expire, so choosing what it becomes can take as long as it takes. Nothing is decided that you did not decide.

Come In, or Text Us

Bring us the box.

You do not have to know what is in it, or what any of it is worth. That is the part we do. Come and sit with us at any of our three Tulsa showrooms and we go through it together — that is the solid answer, with the box open in front of you. Or start by text and schedule an appointment, and we’ll do our best from what you tell us.

Good Questions

What kind of gold do you take?

Gold in any karat — 10, 14, 18, 22, 24 — and it does not have to be whole. Broken chains, bent rings, a clasp, one earring whose partner is long gone: it is all still gold.

Do I need an appointment to bring gold in?

No. Walk in any time we are open — Tuesday through Friday 10 AM to 6 PM, Saturday 10 AM to 5 PM — at Broken Arrow, South Tulsa or Brookside.

Do I have to decide the same day?

No. We will go through the pieces with you and tell you where they stand. What you do next is yours, that day or any other.

Does trade credit expire?

No. Credit with us keeps. Take it the same day, or come back when you have found the piece you actually want — there is no clock on it and there never has been.

Can I put my gold toward a custom piece?

Yes, and it is where a trade goes furthest. Your gold is worth 50% more in trade than sold outright, and a custom piece is the only thing on the floor that is already yours before it is made.

What happens to the gold I trade in?

It leaves the drawer. That is the honest answer — most of it is melted and returns as metal, which is why a piece worth keeping as it is gets said out loud before anything else happens.

Katelyn helped me resize and refresh my wedding ring. She was knowledgeable, professional, and incredibly sweet. She made the experience easy and enjoyable, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I highly recommend asking for Katelyn

Had a fantastic experience at J David! Bought an engagement ring last year and a wedding band this year. Maelei and Susan were especially super helpful and patient with us and found us the perfect matches!

One big request I had for Hayley was to make sure any leftover gold from the ring was returned to me. Not only did she make sure I got the gold, but Scott even turned it into a small pendant!
