This policy explains what J. David Jewelry collects when you use this website, what we do with it, and what we don't do with it.
The short version: this site is a catalog and an invitation to visit us. It has no accounts to create, no shopping cart, and no online checkout. We count visits so we can see which pages are useful, and we measure how our advertising performs. We don't sell what we learn, and what we know about you never leaves the handful of companies named below.
What we collect
When you text us. The chat button on this site opens a text thread with one of our showrooms, handled by our messaging provider. That thread carries your phone number and whatever you write in it, and it reaches the people working the floor at the store you're matched with.
When you contact us another way. If you call, email, come in, or ask us to start a design, we keep what you give us — your name and contact information, and the details of the piece we're working on with you — so we can do the work and reach you about it.
When you join the Inner Circle. If you give us your email address in the signup at the foot of any page, it goes to our email provider so we can send you news about J. David. That is all it is used for, and you can leave at any time using the unsubscribe link in any message.
When you enter a contest. Anything you provide to enter is used to run that contest and award the prize. Our contest rules cover this in full.
When you browse. We use Google Analytics to count visits -- which pages get read, roughly which city you are in, what brought you here, and which buttons get used. It sets two cookies and keeps no IP address, and it never receives your name, your email address or your phone number. We also measure how our advertising performs, which is what tells us whether an ad was worth running. And we use Microsoft Clarity to see how pages get used — where people click and how far they scroll — so we can fix what gets in the way. It hides anything typed into a box, sets two cookies of its own, and never receives your name, your email address or your phone number.
That is the whole list. This site asks for nothing else.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or trade your personal information. We never have.
- The only cookies we set are the ones that count a visit, show us how pages get used, and measure our advertising. Nothing else is kept on your device, and turning cookies off does not change how this site works for you.
- We honor Do Not Track. If your browser sends the signal, we load no analytics at all.
- We don't sell advertising space here, and nobody pays us to put a tracker on this site. Two pages carry a designer's own catalog, and those are described below.
- We don't market to children under 13 and don't knowingly collect their information.
Who else touches it
A few kinds of companies necessarily see some of this, and each has its own privacy policy:
- Our messaging provider, which carries the text conversations started from the chat button.
- Our email provider, which holds the mailing list and sends what we send. It sees the address you give us and nothing more.
- Google, which counts visits for us and carries our advertising. It sees pages and actions, never your name or your contact information.
- Microsoft, whose Clarity tool shows us how pages get used. It sees clicks and scrolling, never your name or your contact information.
- Our hosting and infrastructure providers, which serve these pages. Like any web host, their servers log routine request information.
We share information with people who help us operate — and only on the condition that they keep it confidential. We may also release information when we genuinely believe we must, to comply with the law, enforce our policies, or protect someone's rights, property, or safety.
Pages here occasionally link to other companies' sites. Those sites have their own policies, and we have no control over what they do.
The Gabriel & Co. pages
Two pages on this site show Gabriel & Co.'s own catalog, served from Gabriel's systems inside our pages. Their catalog brings its own measurement and advertising with it, including tools that can recognize a visitor on other websites afterward. That part is Gabriel's, governed by Gabriel & Co.'s privacy policy rather than this one, and we do not control what it collects or see what it holds.
Nothing else on this site works that way. If you would rather not, the rest of the site -- every collection, every showroom page -- does not use it.
Email we send
If you're on our mailing list, we use your address to answer you, to keep you current on your piece, and to send news about J. David. When we do:
- We won't use false or misleading subject lines or sender addresses.
- We include our physical address.
- We honor opt-out requests quickly.
- Every message carries an unsubscribe link.
To stop hearing from us, use the unsubscribe link in any email, or just tell us — a text or a phone call to any showroom does it.
Keeping it safe
This site is served entirely over an encrypted connection. What you tell us is reachable by a limited number of people who need it to serve you, and they're expected to keep it that way.
If a data breach ever affects your information, we will notify you by email within seven business days. You keep every legal right you have to pursue a claim against anyone who mishandles your information, including ours.
Seeing or changing what we have
There are no accounts here to log into. To ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it, contact any showroom below and we'll take care of it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version is posted on this page. Substantive changes get a new date at the top.
